The IRME has had the honor of representing the folk culture of the USA in many countries. Our team began touring in 1996. We have participated in festivals in Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, Brazil, Mexico ,Taiwan and Bulgaria. Our team helps sponsor the Idaho International Music and Dance Festival in our hometown of Burley , Idaho, USA. Team directors are Kristine and Clay Handy. Our talented Bluegrass band is directed by Jacque Lee. Team members are students of Shaundalee Morgan, Melissa Morgan and Kristine Handy’s private dance studio in Burley Idaho.
The Idaho Rocky Mountain Express Ensemble is from the town of Burley, in rural southern Idaho. The Ensemble is a group of dancers and musicians presenting a colorful spectrum of American music and dance. Each dance is presented appropriate period style costuming. Their repertoire includes:
v Anthology of American clogging from old style Ozarks flatfooting
to modern competitive clogging
v Pioneer medley of favorite folk songs, round, reel and square dances
v Music and dance from the turn of the century New Orleans style
v Indian hoop dancing, Afro-American steppin’ and pattin’juba
v Hawaiian Hula, early American contra dancing, swing and southern waltz
